No Such Place - Museum of London - 2009-2010

No Such Place is a fallacy. A re-archive between the real and the imaginary. In fact it is an omittance, an absence, alteration and therefore a place of no equal. What if I was to start inside out from the archive? With no place to find except no place. July 2009 I find Nonsuch Palace NON59 ( first archived in 1959 ). This is how I embarked upon the concept. What if I was to begin re-archiving this whilst omitting just two letters, N & A? What if not only the letters were to disappear from the archive, but also further material culture from this archive to be made absent hence perhaps revealing the original resonant sense of place, the human as opposed to a mausoleum. I will trace the makers, the diggers, the archivists and work with them to explore No Such Place through Nonsuch Palace. Not on the part of deceitful endeavour but to examine the potential between the idea of the real and the imaginary place. The objective and the personal. Definition Nonsuch (plural nonsuches) Alternate spelling for nonesuch. Definition Nonesuch (plural nonesuches) A person or thing with no equal. [2] Etymology First attested in 1590[1]: none + such. noun

1. a person or thing unrivaled or unequaled; something or someone unique; nonpareil
2. black medic
Synonyms * ideal * paragon NOTHING equal to its magnificence
