The Story of Stratford - Westfield & A New Direction - London 2009-2011

'The Story of Stratford' is a two year artist commission with schools supported by Westfield and managed by A New Direction. Local visual artist, Helen Marshall is working with 7-13 year olds at Colegrave Primary School and Stratford Secondary School to document the progress of the Stratford City development from a building site in 2009 to an operational retail centre in 2011, exploring how the history and subsequent regeneration of Stratford will change the lives of students and their families.

"'The Story of Stratford' project is a unique opportunity for young people to showcase all the positive changes that are taking place in Stratford city centre as a result of Westfield. Pupils are developing skills in photography, film and research. They have interviewed young and old local residents and are learning about how their area has changed over the years, encouraging them to project and think about what their future holds."
