About

Helen Marshall is a British visual artist based in London, United Kingdom. Her practice is rooted in fine art photography, storytelling and new media. She often works with archives, collecting thousands of photographs to tell a story or commemorate an important moment in social and cultural history. Her work is exhibited outside the gallery or museum and is held in private and public collections. In 2016 she incorporated her company The People’s Picture in London and the USA delivering participatory projects in the public realm.

Her portfolio includes exhibitions and commissions for the Kennedy Space Center, The Horniman Museum, The National Memorial Arboretum, Royal College of Surgeons, BBC Television, Tate Britain, The Photographers’ Gallery, Financial Times and Canary Wharf Group. She is an Honorary Member of the Townswomen Guilds, one of the largest women’s organisations in the UK. She won the Nikon Photo International Award in 2002 and she holds a World Record for creating the largest photo mosaic in Birmingham in 2008. She has completed residencies and commissions internationally, and worked in arts and health settings including hospices and hospitals.

She holds a Masters’s Degree in Photographic Arts from Westminster University, London, a Degree in Photography from Bournemouth University, a BA First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art from Cardiff University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Reading. Her additional training and interests include a Postgraduate Certificate in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths College, London, Thai Yoga Massage and an ART Level 1 International in Authentic Relating, Bali.
